Aside from her scientific achievements, she was committed to negotiating the moral and authorized implications of genetics research. Her pioneering work tending British troops within the Crimean War earned her the thanks of a grateful nation. The money raised in appreciation funded her nurses’ training college at London’s St Thomas’s Hospital, and from there her affect and ideas unfold worldwide.
