But the bad rhetoric has caused a lot of damage and social costs of this debate, public schools can be held for many years. Therefore appeal to the parents (and even as a parent member of the parents in one school): let’s start working on trust, let us build a good relationship, good cooperation and communication. Much we can do together. Parents could improve the way one more thing: do not let us look at the school through the prism of contemporary institutions, which we ended 20-30 or more years ago. These are not the same time, it is not the same learning environment, they are not the same brains that teach and are taught in school. This is a radically different social situation (economic, technological as well) than before. Otherwise we learn and communicate differently. In a completely different way to school also it affects the environment. Let’s be more open to innovation and actions that seem strange to us (because we lived there). A lot of good relationships teacher – parent brings electronic diary and the teacher’s openness to communicate (and competence at the same time). Electronic diary can effectively improve the frequency and quality of communication, of course, if the teachers use the tools built into the software. Increased access to information, assessments, plan activities – all this translates into a better flow of information among parents. It would be good, we talked about school at home as often as possible. But … well – if our children will be happy to talk about how they spent the day in the classroom? And you may need to pull out all of them? Very much it depends on how we ask questions we parents to children. For such a “what’s new in school,” it is no wonder that we hear “nothing”. After all, the building is still standing … Parents could be more involved in the work of the school. Take, for example, school events – just about them often talk. Here, unfortunately, very often it reveals itself rutyniarstwo teachers – “for 20 years so did the ceremony and it was good.” As new parents to appear at school, there are also new ideas and evaluate these events – it would be great if teachers wished to ask, and take advantage of valuable comments, to do something better. It’s a total natural step for a better cooperation. We say that the school should be a community: students, teachers and parents. Community, which is a community that has shared values, goals, builds good relationships, etc.. In Polish schools, I think we are still far from creating such a community. But it is reassuring that many have already managed to do a lot of good, so definitely a “can” enable parents in school life, and with good results.
