Sergio Aguero has stated that he will leave Manchester City when his contract expires in 2020 and will return to his native Argentina.
Aguero agreed a contract extension at City at the beginning of last year and is one goal away from a landmark tally of 200 for the club – in under 300 appearances.
Arriving at the Etihad Stadium in 2011, Aguero is now the club’s all-time leading scorer and has won the Premier League twice.
He’s already making plans for a return to Argentina, though, and preferably Independiente.
“When my contract with Manchester City ends (2020), I will return to Argentina, to Independiente,” he told Fox Sports Argentina.
Manager Pep Guardiola confirmed last year that Aguero will be allowed to decide his own future.
“He [Aguero] has already signed a contract extension. Sergio will be here until he decides not to be here,” he said at the time.
“He is our best striker – we have a problem with goals so we need him. What I want is the best possible for him.”
