Best for superfood addicts

Farm Girl

If you’re on a mission to get as many superfoods into your diet as possible, start your day at this Australian-inspired, turquoise-tiled café. Not only is the porridge made with an omega mix, but you can also get extra goodness by the teaspoon (from 40p), including liquorice root, maca powder, bee pollen and goji berries.

Anything but worthy: the soothing bowls are full of super-healthy ingredients

Best for alternative grains

26 Grains

As well as oats, savoury porridge is made here with spelt or Indonesian-style with brown rice. If you’re sweet-toothed, go for a soothing bowlful with almond milk, hazelnuts, cinnamon, coconut and apple. The ingredients may all be super-healthy, but they feel anything but worthy.

Find it: 2 Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden, WC2H 9DP (26grains.com)

Wholesome: maple porridge from Maple & Fitz

Best for savoury porridge

Maple & Fitz

Savoury porridge is officially a thing since über-chef René Redzepi declared his love for porridge with pork on top. A more wholesome version is available here made with miso, almonds and spring onion. If you can’t quite get your head around the idea, try the breakfast porridge with maple syrup, chia seeds and toasted walnuts.

Find it: 36A Berners Street, W1T 3LY (020 7631 3056;mapleandfitz.com)
