Ever since Barack Obama was elected as the first African-American President of America, we can’t help but avert our style-conscious eyes occasionally to his impeccably fashion-savvy wife, Michelle.
With her host of followers – 5.4 million on twitter – and her loyalty to a feminine knee-length dress, the First Lady has become a favourite among many designers, propelling the likes of Thakoon, Peter Pilotto and Jason Wu even further into the limelight.
As she touched down in London this week to discuss her campaigns for girls’ education and better support for military families, the First Lady – along with her two daughters – looked immaculate.
Drawing inspiration from her daughter Malia’s Alice + Olivia dress, Michelle also showcased a yellow-and-blue-hued look in a lightweight Preen design with a delicate lace overlay.
After settling in to London life by catching up with Prince Harry (how else?), Michelle visited the Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets in East London. She was there to discuss joint work between America and Britain to boost education for young girls across the world through the Let Girls Learn initiative, championed by her and her husband Barack.
Wearing another flare-skirted look with a knee-length hemline, the First Lady’s second dress of her trip came from London-based Greek designer Mary Katrantzou, consisting of capped sleeves and a Paisley print design.
Keep an eye on this page to keep up with all the looks from her visit.
