Holiday park unveils plans for upgrade

The owners of a holiday park in Devon have unveiled plans for an upgrade including a pool extension and a splash park for children.

Beverley Park in Goodrington, Torbay, was opened by the Jeavons family in 1956.

Originally built with just 10 caravans, some tents and a shop, the park now has three linked sites with 238 caravans, 23 lodges and 143 camping pitches.

In its planning application, the Jeavons family said the park wanted to “elevate the guest experience” with new amenities.

‘Contemporary trends’

According to the planning application, the proposed work includes relocating changing rooms and gym facilities and extending the indoor swimming pool to include a reception and cafe area.

Planning documents showed the work also included a first-floor extension from the existing restaurant to upgrade staff and customer amenities, including toilets and office space.

A splash park is planned for children along with upgrades to seating areas.

A walled garden and pedestrian area would be built to link the park’s two existing main buildings, it said.

The application said: “The proposed enhancements seek to strike an equilibrium that honours the site’s illustrious past while embracing contemporary trends and standards.

“By embracing thoughtful design principles that marry tradition with innovation, the caravan park endeavours to create an environment that resonates with both long-standing patrons and new visitors alike, fostering memorable experiences and lasting connections for generations to come.”
