Model Elle Macpherson says she doesn’t think you have to be young to be beautiful.
Speaking to Red magazine, the Australian beauty explained how she’s embracing her age, rather than resenting it.
“I don’t want to be young, I want to be beautiful, the most beautiful I can be, of course I do, but that doesn’t come from being young.”
Elle, who turned 50 a few months ago, also spoke about how self-conscious she was when she began her modelling career in her twenties.
“If I look at pictures of when I was young, my smile wasn’t even genuine, because it was so wracked with self-consciousness. I don’t even recognise myself in some of my younger pictures.”
She also revealed her secret to staying beautiful: “I think it’s a great diet: supplementation, meditation every day, seven hours of sleep, three litres of water and a lot of laughter.”
The full interview with Elle is available in the August issue of Red, which is on sale 4 July. Also available in digital edition on Apple Newsstand. For further content, go to redonline.co.uk
